Biography:

In the early 1940s Art played hockey and softball in and around Kingston.

After returning from the Second World War he became the general manager of the Kingston Goodyears Senior hockey team.

In 1946 Art started to officiate amateur hockey including the Senior Allan Cup and Junior Memorial Cup before moving on to the professional ranks. Until 1964, Art officiated in the Eastern, Central, American and National Hockey Leagues. Art also officiated in many leagues in and around Kingston. He was Kingston’s Sportsman of the Year in 1956.

Art was a popular guest speaker for many sports events and banquets. He was a President of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 560 in Kingston, and board member of The International Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Ontario Hockey Association awarded Art the Honour Roll of Achievement for 25 years of excellence and service as an official in the OHA. At the time of his induction, Art was one of only ten recipients to receive this award.
