Biography:

Rob Bagg first made his athletic presence known to the community as a multi-sport athlete at Frontenac Secondary School, playing hockey with the Greater Kingston AAA organization, running cross country, where the team won a championship in 2001 and on the track where he ran the 800 and finished 5th at OFSSAA. It was on the football field though where his athleticism and leadership stood out. Rob led Frontenac to two OFSSAA championships in his sport, and was twice named a KASSAA All Star.

That prowess led him to Queen’s University where Rob captained the Gaels for three seasons, earning Most Valuable Player honours in 2006, an OUA All Star nod and second team All Canadian recognition in 2007. Rob was also the recipient of the Johnny Evans Trophy as the Gaels team MVP, the Doug Hargreaves Trophy as Offensive MVP, and the Hal McCarney Trophy as the team’s Most Dedicated Player while starring for the Gaels.

This success on the field took Rob to the prairies as an undrafted free agent where he enjoyed an eleven year career in Saskatchewan Roughrider Green. It was a career that could have been cut short because of a knee injury that ended his 2010 campaign, and caused him to miss the entire 2011 season. But Rob was determined to come back and continue playing. Even though he injured the other knee in 2012, Rob played five more seasons with the Roughriders, earning a Grey Cup Championship with the team in 2013.

Rob was a team captain for six seasons, earned CFL West All Star honours in 2014 after his knee injuries, was nominated as the league Outstanding Canadian, and is a proud member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ “Ring of Honour” at Mosaic Stadium in Regina.

Committed to the community that welcomed him as a player, Rob and his dedicated family played a significant role with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Society there.

Described as a professional, dedicated and high energy leader, and a positive person on the field and in life, Rob Bagg has carried himself with character and earned the respect of those who know him.
