Rolf Lund

Biography:

An excellent all-around athlete in his youth, Rolf is best known for his work as an educator, coach and athletic administrator.

In 1961 Rolf began coaching football, gymnastics and skiing at Royal Military College. He joined the faculty at Queen's University in 1963 where he also coached track and field, and cross-country skiing/

Rolf was appointed Queen's first chair of athletics in 1988.

He was president of the Ontario Track and Field Association for 13 years and was elected chair of Athletics Canada in 1996.

Rolf coached Canadian skiing and track teams nationally and internationally. He held senior staff positions with international delegations at World Student Games, Pan American Games, World Track and Field Championships and the Olympic Games in 1996.

He was a member of the board of directors for the Canadian Olympic Association, Pan American Athletic Commission and Commonwealth Games Association.

Rolf was awarded the Ontario Special Achievement Award in 1989, the "Canada 125" medal in 1993, and the Veteran's Pin from the International Amateur Athletic Association in 1997.
