Biography:

In 1965, Don started his twenty-one year career as a hockey official. He quickly advanced from minor hockey to th Ontario Hocke Association's junior, intermediate and senior levels while also working games at Queen's, RMC and St. Lawrence College. He refereed three RMC-West Point games for three seasons, traveled to the United States to officiate American College hockey. As a certified level six official: Don refereed Major Junior "A" games for eleven years, was assigned the OHL finals five consecutive years from 1981 to 1985, and instructed at the Ontario Hockey Development Camp in 1982.

Among the personal highlights from his twenty-one year career are: the first Canadian Midget Hockey Championship held in Kingston in 1967, a six team International Hockey Tournament in Lake Placid in 1979, the OHA Jr. "B" All-Star Game in 1981, the CIAU Hockey Championship in Moncton in 1982, and in 1984, both the OHL All-Star Game and the Memorial Cup Tournament.

A reliable hard-hitting third basemen in the off-season, Don was a member of three Ontario Senior "A" championship baseball teams including the 1973 CKLC Kingston Ponites who represented Ontario at the Canada Summer Games in Edmundson, NB.
